My dryer will run for about 1-5 seconds then stops, I replaced the timer, no luck; I am now thinking it's the motors, any suggestions?

Try turning the drum by hand. It should turn fairly easily. If not it could be it is overloading the motor.

I am not sure about the next bit as I do not know if a motor will start with only the aux (start) winding. Perhaps someone else will jump in with this info.
If it will then it could be the run winding on the motor is shot. The motor's centrifugal switch switches out the aux winding when the motor gets close to operating speed perhaps this is when the motor is stopping as the run winding is open.

Have you tried this without clothes in the dryer? Could be that the door switch is just making, clothes rattle the door opening the switch and stopping the motor.

Drum rotates fairly easliy counterclockwise; but won't rotate the other way. I took the clothes out and it still only run for 1-3 seconds, there is a slight burning smell. I'm thinking it is the motor, just want to make sure all of possibilties are ruled out. Thanks

Yes sounds like the motor is toast.
