on a four prong plug which color wires of the four carry 120v to the dryer

Could not find a wiring diagram but the norm is White - Neutral Red - 120 volts Black - 120 volts Green - Earth Ground (chassis)
If you are hooking up a 4 wire line cord it is important that the ground strap on the unit's terminal strip's Neutral connection to the unit's chassis be removed. On 4 wire hook ups Neutral and Earth Ground are separate. |

thanks Denman. Im getting 120v out of the two rectangler slots on the 4-wire receptacle. when I check for voltage on the red and black wire while its not connected to the dryer I get 120v on each wire. But, when Im connected to the dryer i get 120V on the red wire and no voltage the black. why? Dryer doesnt work at all not even the drum light.
