Is there anyway I can fix this myself or is this something that should be handled by a professional?

Can you be more specific on the problem?
What and how the washer does and what and how it does not?
Gene.

The washer runs everything normally until the spin cycle. You can hear the motor running but the cylinder doesn't spin. The water just drains out the bottom leaving the clothes extremely wet.

Unfortunately this part is no longer available. Gene.

Our washer will run through all the cycles but doesn't always high spin. A couple times we will move the dial to high spin(after the cycle is done) and the motor will run but won't spin. I will shake/move the basket by hand and the high spin usually works. Is it a stuck brake, bad clutch or switch?

Is it a stuck brake, bad clutch or switch? Hello, You may want to start the troubleshooting from checking the drive block. You can find more useful information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...ir/373-not-spinning.htmlHere are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for Whirlpool LSQ8000LQ3 Washer - AppliancePartsPros.comGene.
