Yes, it could be a seepage problem(minor) in the fill valve, but I didn't want to take you there unless we had to.

But, that's the next place we're going, if you still have a problem after the leveling of the ice maker.

I have leveled the icemaker using a shim and now it is perfectly level.
I emptyed the ice bucket and lowered the arm to resume operation.
At 6 pm the ice dumped from the maker into the bucket. I watched it fill and there was no leak during the filling phase. I went do something else.
then, about 8 pm, I went to get some cubes and found an icicycle about
3/8" diameter and 4" long! this is the biggest one yet.
I broke it off and watched the filling cycle which is now about 6 seconds.
I dried the bottom of the ice mold with a towel and stood with my finger on the corner where the icicycle forms. In just a few seconds, there were several drips. Now I just raised the arm to the OFF position, dried the mold again, and there is no more dripping..
Can we now shift attention to the filling valve as you mentioned previously? It seems that it must be leaking very slowly, but continuously to allow such a big icicycle to form.
What do you think?

Yes, replace the fill valve .

Normally, I would attach the part number you need to order, but I can't find that model number in our parts information.

I will be happy to research it for you, but please re check and varify the model number on the serial plate/ tag in the unit.

Joe,
One more thought before replacing the fill valve:
In discussing my problem with ORG (other retired guys) yesterday, one asked if the leak could possibly be coming from the joint where the control module attaches to the ice mold. I have noticed on the opposite end of the mold (where the fill tube is located) that the plastic coating on the metal mold is deteriorating. If this coating is also deteriorating at the module end joint, could that caulse the leak?
I just looked and saw that over night, the icicycle is so big that it has now frozen solid around the spiral device that feeds cubes to the dispenser in the door.
This looks like a lot of water has leaked over nite. the control arm was down, so ice was being made all nite. I will remove the bucket and thaw it before my wife tries to use the dispenser!!!
I also checked the model no. It is ED25PQXDW01.

PRA,

It would take a hole in the mold, for the ice maker to drip or leak.

I have never seen that occur.

I have seen flaking off in the mold, now a days, it's usually deposits in the water and can be cleaned out with White vinegar and hot water.

But even so, it would not make the ice maker leak.

I have been telling you that the icicycle ocurred whether the control arm was in the up or down position. THAT IS NOT CORRECT.
Yestrday, when I wrote to you about the ice freezing on the spiral conveyor, I raised the arm so I could clean out the bucket.
When I got home last nite, the arm was still in the up position.
There was NO ICICYCLE at all!!!!!
Of course, no cubes had been formed either, but there was no leak.
Does that tell us that the valve is OK?
I am totally confused and feel we are back at Square One, all because of my incorrectly reporting that the icicycle formed regardless of the arm position. I am sorry to have wasted your time.
Please give me your ideas, in view of this latest info.

Pra,

You aren't the only one confused !

So, there is no icycle if you raise the bail arm (turns the ice maker off).

But there is an icycle if you leave the bail arm down(turns ice maker on).

Try this,

Disconnect the Tan and the White wires from the fill valve.

You'll need your meter to check voltage.

There should be 0 volts across the two wires, wether the arm is up or down.
(There should be no voltage to the fill valve,until the icemaker reaches the fill segment of it's cycle).

If, you read any voltage,you'll need to check each wire to chassis ground, to determine what we've got :

A shorted contact in the control module of the ice maker

A pinched or shorted wire in the harness.

I've attached a manual for basic icemaker / dispenser circuits and checks
It should explain more than I can here on the forum.

I am a veteran of all types of forums, and did a search on this problem before posting a new thread and found this thread to be most helpful.

One question for you... I have a Maytag (MZD2766GE) and have this "overflowing" problem. The unit is level. There is a small drip (every 15 seconds or so) from the front of the tray.

I assume it is the water inlet valve leaking, but when searching for answers I saw something somewhere that said it could be traces on the modular board wearing causing the valve to stay open too long, therefore overfilling the tray.

The drip does stop about 20 minutes after the fill cycle, so I am really wondering if it is the tray overfilling because of the (possibly) long fill cycle, or if the valve is seeping for some reason (I suspect hard water / lime scale) and eventually sealing.

What would you advise trying first? Also, where is the fill valve located?

Also, Pra... what eventually fixed your issue?

MB,

It's still most likely a seaping fill valve seat in the valve, especially if you're in a hard water area. But.
You need to check and replace the water filter in the water system.
You need to make sure you have at least, 32 psi water pressure at the inlet valve connection constant.
Checl all the water tube connections, they have to be air tight.
A clogged filter or low water pressure, can keep the valve seat from seating and will cause the ice maker or dispenser to drip.
If you have a loose water tube seat, there is a possibility for the system to suck air into it, and cause the same dripping issue.
I'm pretty sure you're going to need to replace the fill valve.

There are two valves, and they are both located on the back of the refrigerator, so you'll need to move it away from the wall, remove the lower access panel and go from there.
