Hello,
I have a Maytage Atlantis MAV7000AWQ. For the last week it has start producing a griding noise during the agitation and spin cycle. It is intermittent during agitation but progressively louder during the spin cycle.
I pulled the washer out and there is metal shavings on the floor and a small amount of clear oil (at least I think it's oil). I have the front cover off and it sounds like the noise is coming from the transmission.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
ReCy

Very likely the problem is a bad drain pump bearing. Check how freely the pump pulley is moving in both directions. - The drain pump Part number: AP4372886

Thanks. I concluded the same last night. The pulley moves freely. I plan on taking it out tonight and inspecting it more closely. Is there anything that I should watch for?
Thanks again.

The first and only suspect to me is the drain pump.

Thanks again. I have the same noise problem with my MAV9600 washer, so I changed the water pump. Did not make a difference. I think the noise is coming from one of the tub bearings. Not sure which one yet.

Everyone keeps telling me on the phone to look for 2 screws located in front underneith? I only see two clips on the bottom one on each side. Perhaps is the two screws located under those clips? Please help and if there is a way you sugest to pop them off would be great too. Thank angela:)

You can use a tool such as a putty knife to release the retaining clips that connect the top to the front panel. Insert the tool between the top and the front panel near the sides, press rearward on the tool, and the top will release from the front panel. Do both sides, and you will be able to raise up the top. Then, prop up the top so it stays up and doesn't slam down on your hands. Look at the left and right sides for the two fasteners that hold the front to the two sides. Use a short nutdriver to reach in and unscrew the fasteners. Then the front panel can be tilted forward, and lifted off of the tabs that hold it in place at the bottom. Installation is simply the reverse steps. Originally Posted by: angelaj ![Go to Quoted Post Go to Quoted Post](/Themes/yafvision/icon_latest_reply.gif) How did you take off your front cover.
