I've read many posts on this forum from people with problems very similar to mine ( keyboard buttons not working correctly) and found them all pretty useful. Ive run the diagnostic system and even though it runs using those codes, it is definatly not working correctly.
My question has to do with the cause of the problem. For whatever reason it appears that I have to replace the control board in my dishwasher. That's fine and I can do that. I have an appliance insurance policy and that company sent a repair person to look at the dishwasher. At some point in the past, there was a leak under the sink and a small amount of water ended up on the floor under the dishwasher. The repair man(who never even tried to use the diagnostic system built into the dishwasher) declared that the water shorted the control panel even though there were no electrical wires in contact with the water. The insurance company has denied my claim because of this mans explanation of the cause.
My question is this: In all the cases where the control board has to be replaced is there water in contact with the dishwasher that caused the malfunction? If indeed that is a real possibility then I will be fine with that answer.

I have another repair man coming to look at it next week. Any info on why these control panels malfuction would be helpful.

Yes it does sound like the control board is gone.

No, in most cases they just blow on their own.
Or a component shorts out like the motor or vent or dispenser etc. and it takes out the board.
If the water did not touch any components (most importantly the motor), then it is not the cause of the board going.
As long as you are sure the leak was at the sink and ran down the drain hose and then dripped directly onto the floor.

Anything is possible but from your description it does not sound that your leak was the cause.

thanks for your response.

The insurance company sent a second repair guy out who looked at the dishwasher and confirmed my suspiscion that the other guy didn't have a clue as to what he was doing. He said that he replaces the control board in this model all the time and he could find no evidence of any kind of short or any kind of water damage.

The most annoying thing about this whole situation was how rude the owner of the first repair company was when I just wanted to discuss it with him. Oh well.
