I have a old maytag 2 speed washer- the water will drain but it will not spin. It does agitate. It smells like something is burning if you let it stay in the spin cycle. what could the problem be?

For the Maytag washer, probably something stuck in the tub. Just tilt back the top, remove tub cover and look. Post results.
