I have a Maytag Front load washer model MAH4000AWW, that been pretty dependable for 7 years. This morning my wife started a load of clothes and as I walked threw the laundry room I smelled what seemed like a electrical burning smell. The smell was coming from the washer, but it seemed to be working fine. Well after the cycles completed I opened the door and noticed the clothes were still wet. So I turned the time to the spin cycle and turned it on, unit seemed to rotate, but the spin cycle never engaged, I also noticed the door lock light was not on and I was able to open the door while in operation, the door lock didn't engage. This problem seems identical to bpcolll problem posted 8/3/07. I would like to do the repairs myself but don't want to permanently disable the wife's Neptune. I need the steps, do I replace the control board or can I just replace the resisters? Or is it the lock switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I just have a service tech come out at 69.00 to tell me it's broke! Thank you in advance.

Our neptune washer has been very reliable for several years. This year it stated to leave some of our clothes wet. Especially the towels. I've located the displacement switches. Is there a way to check if switches are not fried??

Neptuners, Don't forget to replace your door latch wax motor... See MAYTAG NEPTUNE WASHER R11 Q6 REPAIR KIT + 12002535 WAX MOTOR for a funny song that explains the faulty door latch wax motor issue. Keep in mind that if you have an earlier MAH3000, you have (3) of those darlings you should proactively replace.
