My husband put running shoes into the dryer last night. It ran fine, though the shoes made some banging noises. This morning dryer sounds like it's running but the drum isn't turning.:(

If the motor is running then the first thing to check would be the belt.

Thanks glen65. My neighbor came over and pulled the dryer all apart and we did find a busted belt. So it is now running just fine again. Thank goodness for good neightbors! Maybe next time I'll know how to do it myself!
