Sounds like a bad start relay. That's the "white switch" you describe.

The compressor is shutting down on it's overload klyson, most probably a bad compressor, burnt winding or mechanically jamed. It seems like your present start device is working prperly, but without meter data that's just a guess. Let us know if your fridg is older than 15 years old.But it's Worth a try with a start device replacement. PTC relay 10097202, capacitor C8931608, overload klyson 10377015. The overload klyson is probably ok. Run capacitor C8931608 also probably ok.

thanks for all your help and advise. great sight to check out. i bought the stater relay and capasitor, installed it, but no luck. it would of been a fast and cheep fix($ 34.00 ). i had a feeling that the compressor was an issue. any idea how much the job goes for and is it worth it ? can i do it ?

This is probably a compressor burnout, big bucks to fix, $500 or more, no way is any fridg worth it unless a Sub Zero.
