My Maytag gas dryer ignites the gas and then clicks off after 10 seconds or so of flame; continues that cycle every 45 seconds, forever. I've checked continuity on all the thermostats and fuses, and the coils, and everything checks out ok. Fuses, thermostats and radiant sensor all show continuity, and the two coils show the right amount of resistance across the terminals. I even took off the vent hose to ensure there was no restriction in air, and it's blowing lots of air. Is there anything else I can check? I have a service manual for the unit, I got from your site, it's here: http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16023110.pdfAny help is appreciated; thanks in advance for your help. J. Unger

Remove the front panel and check the blower wheel. If there is nothing wrong, check the inlet duct assembly and combustion cone (#16, #19 & #20 on the diagram). Post the results. Gene.

What am I looking for? Everything is clean and the air is blowing well. I also checked the seal, and it looks good and tight. I did - based on other feedback here - bypass the hi-limit thermostat, and it worked great. Bypassing the other fuses and thermostats didn't help though.
Any other ideas?

I've ordered the part, but have a quick question: why would the high limit thermostat pass a continuity test just fine, but it appears to shut the dryer off when heated up? (since when I bypass it, the dryer heats ok)...any ideas?

High limit thermostat consists of two by-metal contacts inside, which provide continuity while are cold. They should break the circuit at some certain temperature to prevent dryer overheat. Looks like it does not work properly anymore.

I'm also having this problem. The dryer runs but no heat. Kenmore 70 series Model# 110.72722100. I turned the dryer on and got busy and forgot about it. It ran for hours without shutting off.

Gene. Makes sense - thanks, Gene. Part should be here Tuesday, I'll repost with the results after I get it installed.
