I have a GE washer that has started to make an infrequent scrapping noise during the wash cycle and a really loud humming noise during the spin cycle was wondering if anyone had any idea what might be causing this thanks

The main way we diagnose a noise is to listen to it and determine where it is coming from. In a Forum like this we cannot do this, so our advice is limited.

I suggest you take off the front, which you can do by inserting a putty knife or thin screw driver in the gap between the top and the front near the edges. This will release clips which hold the front on.

You can now listen to the noise as you operate the machine. I suspect you will find it is coming from the transmission, which also houses the brakes which may be hung up or slipping. Also listen to see if it is the motor or the clutch which is on the motor.

How do i check for leaks. My wife moved the washer today and now it tripps the circuit???

Please start your own thread, and if you can give a more detailed description of what was done with the machine and why you think a leak is the problem when it tripping your GFI.

I am sure someone will be able to help you.
