The first thing I would check is any foreign objects (small gourmets like a sock) between the inner and outer tubs.

Also check the belt condition.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag washer Model MAV6357AWW

Gene, Thanks a bunch for your reply..I also suspected restriction between inner & outer tubs, but inspection space is less than 1/2", so I removed upper ring & seal on outer tub, agitator, & the 4 1/2" stud bolts in bottom of inner tub...I need to remove inner tub, but can't figure that removal out! How do you get that sucker out?? I made a post earlier today asking that?? The belt is in good shape and seems snug..Thanks again, Ted

Hi Ted,

You can find the complete instructions in the Service manual.

Hi Ted,
I had similiar issue. My Maytag Neptune TL FAV6800AWW stopped spinning as well. I used the test mode to determine if the error codes could identify what the issue was, but nothing irregular. Just the error codes that I caused while attempting to test: 22, 18, d. But nothing related to the spin. So, I had determined that tumbler was good, water pump was good, but would not spin in spin cycle. I determined this by popping the lid during the cycle. It tried to spin, but something seemed to have prevented it from continuing.... I had called Sears but they wanted to charge $139 just for the visit. After reading the forums, everything pointed to the Clutch. So, the question was do i need just the Clutch or the Clutch and Pulley. I went to Appliance Parts store in AZ, i asked them to pull both parts... When we pulled both parts out, they were identical.. Just the Clutch was $80, the Cluth and Pulley was $160. The only difference besides pricing was the more expensive model had the instructions and a screw... So, i bought the less expensive one (WH25001169 M Clutch) and the sales guy copied the 2 page instructions for me... Easy installation for clutch.. You just need to loosen the tension bolt on the motor and that will give some slack on the belt and u can swap out the clutch very easy. You don't have to remove the shaft from the inner and out tub if you don't want to... I left it alone since it was not leaking and working fine. All I did extra was remove the plastic tumblers from the inner tub just to clean...it definitely needed a good cleaning after 5 yrs of usage. After putting everything back together, I ran a spin cycle to make sure nothing mechanically is wrong. After that, I ran 2 quick wash to check for leaks...After everything checked out, I put it all back together and the wife is back in business with the laundry. In all, it cost me $85 and my time... If I had a repaire man to do it, your looking at maybe $500 where $80 would have been extra in his pocket becuase he would have billed me for the higher priced part. Good luck and hope this helps.
