When washer fills with water, water does not stop and overfills.

Would that mean your diaphram is bad? This is done by air through a tube connected on the side of the tub running to a diaphram in the inside of top selection panel? When pressure is building up to your knob selection: low, medium, high, the air pressure enguages diaphram to shut off solenoid feeding water to tub.
If this checks out, I would inspect the soleniod with ohms reader.
