The top oven of my double oven is venting alot of moisture/steam when we use it. It is starting to ruin the cabinet finish above the oven. The oven died last week and I replaces the control computer and soft touch screen which had shorted out possibly due to the Steam. I was told that replacing the control computer might solve the problem, but it seems that the oven is still venting steam. Also i replaced the lower hinges because the lower door was not closing completely. The hinges that were sent do not seem to be strong enough to keep the door closed, but parts dept say that they shipped the right hinges. any ideas?

From where? out the door??

I don't see how replacing the control would in any way have an affect on venting. :rolleyes:

Which were what part number?

There appear to be two possibilities for door hinges, one specifically for stainless steel models (which I think yours is).

The steam is coming out of the horizontal vent between the door and the control panel. This started about 4 months ago, and does not happen with the lower oven. The hinges sent were #4455525. I switched back to the old hinges until I can figure out what the new hinge should be. Using the old hinges the door does not seem to close as tight as the upper door and we were having problems with maintaining temperature.

If your oven is stainless steel, those do not look to be the correct hinges. You can see the hinges for stainless steel models at the following link:

They likely have slightly stronger springs due to the extra weight a stainless steel door would have over regular colored doors.

Are you certain it is coming out the vent and not maybe out the top of the oven through the door like the door not closing fully might cause?

Than I'm afraid I do not know how to change its functioning. Any "steam" can only be from the food being cooked.

You could check with Whirlpool to see if there is any kind of vent deflector that can be added to direct the vent gases away from cabinetry. The only other ideas I have is either maybe covering your food while cooking or using the other oven when cooking really moist foods which can't be covered.
