Here is a service manual

Cannot be of much help here hopefully someone else with more knowledge will jump in.

I am not sure how they monitor the power so the best I can do is suggest you check all the electrical connections (plug, receptacle etc.) and the connections in the unit.

You could try getting into the diagnostics to see if anything pops up.

The following may be worth a try:
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.

I just checked the thermal fuses. and they are fine. I checked the door switch as well. I think the dryer stopped functioning after the thunderstorm. Is there a PCB or control board that could be fried?

is there a place i can locate the service manual for this....
Thanks...so much..

Gene, thanks for the infor. My problem seems to come and go. If I keep trying to start the dryer it clicks and screen shows power failure occured. It sounds like a relay is trying to kick in but then kicks out. I continue to reset it and try again. After reseting it 3-4 times it works. Serveral weeks goand it acts up again with the same problem. So far I keeping reseting and it seems to keep working. I figure it's only a matter of time before it fails completelyl

Hey, denman: Your response here reminded me that quite a few years ago (less than ten), I saw a fixture that techs can use to do continuity tests on ribbon connectors. Do you remember such a tool? I've tried unsuccessfully to locate it.

You said the definitive word: Thunderstorm. I would recommend you do a visual check on the circuit board in the console. Unplug it first. See if there is any obvious burning of any component on the board. Inside the console you should also find the tech sheet (unless a previous tech stole it--that's one of my pet peeves). It should offer some basic troubleshooting and info about diagnostic mode.
