Good morning, My daughter's oven quit working after a power outage a few months ago. I'm no appliance technician, but I suspect that a low-voltage situation exsisted which affected the controls. The top burners still work, but the oven won't ignite. If the spark module is fried, would the top burners still work? Ican change the module, but I wanted to be sure that's what is wrong with it. Would low voltage affect the gas valve for the oven? Thanks for your help. Mike

You might be right about the power outage affecting the electronic control; but further diagnosis will confirm your gusee, or possibly keep you from spending unnecessary dollars on a good part. The oven chamber uses a different ignition source: a broil igniter, and a bake igniter (In the case of your daughter's range, they're both the same part number. You'll need to be able to check to see if you get 120VQC to the igniters when you select "BAKE". If no response from the control, or if the control responds, but no power to the igniters, replace the control. If you get a response AND power to the igniters; but no glow, replace the igniter(s) that don't glow.
Tell us what you find.
