Default Does not drain
Model Number: 58714439202   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Does not drain. Hose is clear, as is path to check valve within the washer (all interior components removed/inspected).

What are the functions of the relay and the switch, could they be the problem? The switch tests fine - it is activated by a float.

Washing function seem to work fine, I assume the motor/pump (one unit on this model) is not getting the signal to drain the water OR that part of the motor/pump has failed.

On this model, the motor reverses to drain. When it is supposed to be draining, does the motor make any noise, like humming or buzzing or does it just sit silently?

Thanks for your response.

No buzzing, could be a hum or silent. Ran the rinse only cycle w/ no heat dry - it make lots of noise while rising then pretty quiet after that.

Any way to test the motor/pump?

Nope, 3 inches in the bottom.

Sears is out of stock on the motor but I think it is returnable if and when I were to obtain one and that is not the problem.

Not sure if there is a way to test the motor. DW has been "uninstalled".

If you put the machine to a drain cycle, you can see if the motor is getting power. If it is, you will usually, but not always, hear it at least humming or buzzing.

Can it be tested dry - by seeing if power is going to the motor after the rinse cyclc?

I would set to just rinse w/ no heat with the unit out of the cabinet.

Can you perhaps point me to a schematic to see what wires to the motor do what? I assume white is (+ or -)power and the others get power only during certain phases of the cycle.

Test between white and red at the motor with the machine set to drain. Do you read 120 VAC between those two wires?

This photo shows details of the unit. Leads are: white-blue-blue/red-blue/black. There is no indication of when it is draining.

I can set to rinse/hold and check all the leads (using white as common) while rinsing and when the power drops from the lead supplying power during rinse check the others. This would assume that power goes to a different lead for draining.

The wire with the red trace is the winding that should be energized when it should be pumping, so white to that wire should read 120 VAC when it should be pumping out.
