Whirlpool washer

I HAVE RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY WASHER. IT WASHES FINE AND RINSES BUT WHEN IT STARTS THE SPIN CYCLE THE TUB WILL NOT MOVE UNLESS I START IT WITH MY HAND. AT FIRST IT WAS ONLY WITH A HAVE LOAD (ie BLANKETS BLUEJEANS TOWELS). NOW IT IS DOING IT EVEN WITH A LIGHT LOAD. I CALLED AND WANTED TO CHANGE THE BELT AND FOUND OUT THAT THE MACHINE DIDN’T HAVE A BELT. THE REP FROM LOWES SAID IT WAS A COUPLING AND SENT IT TO US. WE CHANGED IT BUT IT DID NOT SOLVE OUR PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND IS QUESTIONING THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE WHITE PLASTIC THAT CONNECTS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TUB AND HOOKS INTO THE SPRING WHEN THE TUB TURNS LOOKS WORN.CAN YOU HELP ME?

There are two little pins on this “white plastic” and if they are worn out then the clutch has to be replaced. Also I would check the drive block (#17 on the diagram). You can find the instructions in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/373-not-spinning.html

I just wanted to let everyone know that the advice worked. We ordered the clutch and within 30 hours it was delivered to N.Y. My husband put it on following the directions given and in 45 minutes he had the machine back together and running. It is working like a new washer. I have added this sight to my favorites and will recommend you to any one having problems with an appliance. you people are great.thanks. kathytay

You are welcome. We are glad you were able to fix it. Thank you for good words.
