Whirlpool GSS26C5 water dispenser

Our refridgerator had an intermittent problem over the last few weeks with the water in the door not dispensing. Sometimes you’d hold a glass against the paddle and it would take a few seconds before it would dispense. Now it’s not working at all. Any ideas on what part(s) I may need to replace?

Thanks!!

How old is the water filter?

If it’s too old then it could be clogged.

less than a month old.

Did you flash the water system after you replaced the water filter?

You can find the instructions in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/499843-water-dispenser-leak.html

Sure did. I ran approximately 4 gallons of water through the filter till it ran clear for a good period of time.

When we press the ice dispensor paddle the dispensor area light comes on as it dispenses. When we press the water dispensor paddle nothing happens, No light, no noises.

Sounds like the problem is a bad dispenser control board. The instructions on how to open the dispenser are attached.

Thanks for the diagnosis. The instructions for accessing the board don’t look at all like my refridgerator. The door control panel on ours is flush mount so there’s nothing to get a hold of to pull from the door after removing the two screws under the drip tray.

There are 2 different kind of dispensers used in Whirlpool refrigerators. The disassembly instructions for the other style are attached. Also you should verify 120 VAC at the water valve coil for the water dispenser while the dispenser calls for water.
