Kitchen Aid Washer: Modle #KAWE800SAL1 Water not draining. I replaced the coupling between motor & gears because it was broken & it worked for 5 loads. Now water won’t drain again. Motor won’t go on but everything seems to be working at the control panel. How can I determine if motor is good or what the problem may be? The motor was also replaced about 5 years ago. I just took the motor out & shaft doesn’t seam to spin easily. I had assumed the shaft would spin at the touch but maybe being stiff is normal. Appreciate any advice you can give.

If the machine will agitate the motor is fine and the pump is fine. Check to make sure the drain line from the tub to the pump and from the pump to the outside drain is clear, that is usually the problem.
You can also operate it with the cabinet off by by-passing the lid switch. That will tell you if the motor is turning and it is spinning good.

Washer filled with water and then did not drain. Tried drain spin only and it did not work. All drain lines are clear. And it does not agitate .
We do not understand how to operate the cabinet off by-passing lid switch.

Removed the motor from washing machine (disconnected motor coupling at one end & pump at the other end) and left motor plug in to washing machine. When giving motor commands from the contoll panel, both the coupling end & the pump end of of the motor’s shaft did spin. Can I now assume the motor is not the problem?
With the lid switch disconnected you can insert an insulated piece of solid electgrical wire with the ends stripped into the two holes of the connector coming from the console that are not green wires, proably the two outside holes.
This will enable you to operate the machine with the cabinet off, just be careful and don’t stick your hand into the tub while the machine is operating.
It does sound like your motor is bad, but these motors are very good and the fact that you had one replaced before is unusual. For two to fail would be really unlikely, but it is certainly possible. If you want you can take the motor off, leaving it connected and move the dial to spin and see if the motor turns.
If it is the motor I would recommend replacing the machine. You can get the same basic machine on sale for about $300.00 to $325.00 these days.
