Problems During Spin Cycle

Washer jumps during the spin cycle as if there is an unbalanced load, I have read that this could be a Snubber issue, however, I observed that the tub does not stay “locked” in during agitate cycle and leans towards the back of the washer. If I simply lean on the agitator when the washer is empy, it seems to “release”, is this a bad lower bearing? Most of the trouble occurs with towels or heavy loads.

According to the Maytag Service bulletin (attached to the post) the correction is to install the base kit specially designed to fix any balance problems.

Thanks for the info Gene, it was very helpful. Do you have other documentation for the installation of this "Kit? Does the machine need full disassembly to install the new base? Thanks again for your time and effort.

Usually, it is not necessary to replace the bottom plate.
Go to my article in the search box above “Maytag Performa washer snubber replacement” When you remove the tranny, inspect the base plate, if pitted, you will need a new one but this is rather rare.
Use vice grips to stretch and release springs and you will not need new screws for the brake housing screws.
