Oven Door removal

The inner glass requires replacement on the oven door. I purchased a new glass but am having a problem removing the oven door. I followed your instructions to open the door to the first stop and lift but the door does not lift. On each side of the hinge attached to the oven are plates with a philips head screw into which the door hinge slides. Is it necessary to remove these to remove the oven door? Thank you Marty
