My GE top load washer (model WLRR5000G0WW) does not agitate or spin. The washer will go through the entire cycle. I realized that something was wrong when I opened the
machine at the end of the cycle and the clothes had not moved and there was still
soap on the top layer of clothes. The outer tub was tilted to the left. I took the
panel off and found that one of the suspension rods was off of the frame. I put it
back on - hoping that the problem was solved. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
I Checked:
Suspension rods: All 4 are attached now
Door/lid switch: No loose wires. Not sure if that is the problem.
Drive Belt: Still attached. I can turn the wheel (?) and the belt moves the tub. No
oil residue. (I read that oil on the belt was bad?)
So I ran the cycle and watched the washing machine… here is what I saw:
Fill: The washer fills up with water just fine.
Wash: Nothing. No motor, no noise. Then after 5-8 minutes, the motor turns on and
pumps the water out of the tub.
Rinse: The washer fills up with water just fine. Then after it is full of water, the
motor stops. Then nothing. After 5 minutes or so, the motor turns on and pumps the
water out.
Spin: The motor runs with the empty tub, but the tub does not spin.
The cycle ends when the spin cycle is over.
unplug power cord for half a minute to discharge the circuit board. then plug power cord back in. within the first 90 seconds of restoring power to circuit board, open/close the lid 5 time within 12 second of each. this will reset the circiut board. worked for me.
go on line to ge.com they have a way to re set the motor with out any tools try that first if not thern there is a fuse on the white and red wire commin g from the motor if that is blown then there may be a worse problem replace the fuse and see what happens.
Gene I have the same issue with my GE washer. It will fill and drain but will not spin or agitate. I hit the link that you told the other Jen to look at for instructions, but there was no instructions. Can you help?
You have to start the troubleshooting from testing the inline fuse for continuation. Check for continuity between the white/red wire at the motor connector and the neutral on the power cord. The location of the fuse is shown in the attached file.
This is a continuation of the same issue. I have tried to reset, test the continuity of the kid switch and the fuse. Both are open. Now what? The green light on top the motor blinks on one second off one second as if in standby ready to operate but still only fill and drain on que! Please provide antbinight you may have. thanks!!
