LED Lights suddenly stops working

Brand: Whirlpool
**Model Number:**wrf767sdhz02
Main Symptom: LED in Refridgerator and Freezer
What happens & when: Lights on the top out

Error Code (if any): no error codes
Parts or tests already tried: no parts yet
Photos / video link: included in post

All of the lights on the top this refridgerator and freezer stopped wprking last night. The led lights on the side of the fridge have continued to work this morning. It is keeping temperature and the fridge and freezer. I find it interesting that all of them went out at the same time. Is it a switch, mutliple switch failure, or a control board?

All the lights in the top are on a separate circuit. It comes directly off the main control board. Unless the wires are bad, it is the board. https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-cntrl-elec-w11224256-ap6329805.html

Thank you for the reply. Where is this located so I can replace this board? Is there a video about changing this out?

The board is on the back of the refrigerator, and it is under a metal plate. Make sure to unplug the refrigerator and swap it out, easy peasy.

Perfect. Board ordered. Interesting fact just happened … the refrigerator door was closed hard and the lights came back on … so maybe a loose connection or something is going on the board. Any other thoughts?

Check connections around the board, you may be on to something with a loose connection.

Will check … Could also be a stressed out connector/connection on the board. Board still ordered love the electronic return by AppliancePartsPro.com!!! Thanks! Will report out when the board comes what the solution to the problem is.

Replaced board same state. Checked for loose connections … no loose connections. Had person in front of refrigerator with door open and wiggled wires connecting to the board and nothing changed … all lights on top out still. Board went from Rev D (orig) to Rev J (new). What is the next guess?

Do you have a wiring diagram for thte model that I can look at maybe there is a connector in the back of the fridge that is causing a problem. Also how do we get the cover off were the water filter plugs in? Its number 8 in the Refigerator Interior Parts layout.

Parts for Whirlpool WRF767SDHZ02: Refrigerator Liner Parts - AppliancePartsPros.com – based off of the Refrigerator Liner Parts I’m also looking at number 22 being a problem? How do we get to that part?

Also on the freezer liner parts from the previous link how does number 3 light tie into the same lights in the fridge area?

Found the wiring diagram online – all of the leds going into this thing called Aurora I’m thinking there is a failure there?

Service Manual : Google W10444924 to get it.

Thank you for the information! I found the same Tech Sheet online somewhere else so that is a good thing. It is not Sabbath mode because I have some lights on just not the top lights. Also there isn’t a Sabbath led position on the front control panel.

Okay I’m convinced that it is the Aurora board (northern lights is not lost on me) that is the problem. Where is that board located? The service manual referenced does not exactly match the model but it does offer some hints.

Here is a picture of the main control board area which does not match the service manual.

Possible Solutions.pdf from above is actually the correct diagnostic pattern. Time to get some measurements and then if there is voltage than a single light or connector has failed because of the comment: “All lights are in series, so if one lights fails all lights will be off”. Okay really need to find the aurora board.

Confirmed voltage at connector 10-1 and 10-2. Confirmed voltage at 10-4 and 10-5. So it must be a faulty light. Still need to figure out where the Aurora board is located.

Hey there — lighting parts received. Problem was the freezer light was no longer working. Once that was replaced all of the other lights came back on … confirming wiring diagram that they are in series and this is the first/last light in the series. I however started with the refrigerator ice maker lights instead of the 3 lights grouped on the right side. Then went to the freezer light. Freezer light is harder to get to. Picture of lights working.

Part number needed: W11483116. Freezer light and left side ice maker refrigerator lights are the same part number. Lights on right size are a group of 3 in a single part number. Also replaced control board but that was deemed to be supplying correct voltage. Never located Aurora controller but I’m guessing it is on the new control board.
