Hello everyone. I have an old kenmore top load washer model # 110.26842691
serial # CG2010052
I’ve had this washer for over 25 years, and it was always very dependable.The only thing I ever had to do was change the pump. So now the problem is, it won’t go on the spin cycle, and I thought it was the pump again.So I changed the pump , and the same thing still happening. Can anyone give me any information?If this is worth fixing and what the possible problem is ? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
when you say it wont go into spin, does it sounds like the motor is running, is the timer advancing like normsl? Or does it just sit there stuck at spin but nothing happens?
After it loads with water, I shut the lid and put it on rinse mode, nothing happens. It doesn’t turn and wash and of course, it’s the same thing for spin, doesn’t do anything. The only thing it does at the beginning is let the water in
There are two possible lid switch designs used on this washer.
Option 1: Look for an oval-shaped hole in the top of the cabinet where the lid closes. If you have this style, the lid switch is mounted directly underneath that hole. There should also be a plastic actuator on the underside of the lid that fits into the hole and presses the switch when the lid is closed. If that plastic piece is broken or missing, the washer won’t recognize that the lid is closed.
Option 2: The lid switch is mounted under the control panel on top of the cabinet. A metal or plastic arm attached to the left lid hinge engages the switch when the lid is closed. This style is notorious for failing over time due to normal wear, a bent actuator arm, or internal switch failure.

OK that pin on the right there that sticks thru the plastic rubber piece, it goes thru a hole in the cabinet top to press down on the lever for the lid safety switch. Look in that hole you should see either a white or gray plastic piece.
Okay , yes , I see that plastic stem that’s going in the hole , and there’s two screws in the hole and I feel some type of a plastic piece that’s under that the rim , where the two screws go , is that what you’re talking about ? do IJust unscrew those two screws and pull it out ?
