Brand:Maytag
Model Number: 410
Main Symptom: No-Heat
What happens & when:
I have a Maytag 410 Series 01 Dryer. It looks almost identical to this model except mine does not have the small on the bottom right and the bigger problem are the electrical components on the inside.
The hi-limit thermostat on the heater looks the same. I changed out the hi-limit thermostat already. And I checked for continuity on the heating coil.
I do not have continuity on these two components that look like different types of thermostats. Nor can I find these two parts on this schematic or on the website. These parts, unlike any of the parts listed on the schematic have three wires, not just two.
Please, help out this amateur. I am a brand new homeowner who is loving learning how to fix things like this. But I am stuck here.
For reference of where these components are located, they are under the lint trap here:
Here is a video just like your dryer with the same thermostats. Here are the parts # WPY304475 WPY304474 Odds are both will not be bad.You need to check for continuity after removing all wires taking note where they go and test the two bottoms terminals for ohms or continuity. At this time don’t worry about the terminal that’s on the upper terminal.Odds are both are good and the problem is elsewhere if you have continuity!

This is perfect! Thank you so much. I don’t know why I couldn’t find that specific cycling thermostat on the schematic but that definitely looks like the piece I need.
I do want to clarify something though. I just got a multimeter for this project. I figured out how to check the continuity on the heating coil and on the thermostat that only had two wires, but I want to make sure I am finding continuity properly on these thermostats with three wires.
If I understand correctly, I should be putting the leads of the multimeter on the two terminals I circled below and I don’t need to check the continuity on the one above with the red x.
Thanks again for your help.
Need to check for continuity on the blue wire and purple with both of them off the thermostat.
The other one brown and purple!
