cybolt, did you ever get this working? We you able to find where the water line comes in behind the recess panel? I have this problem in my GE side-by-side now, and I’d like to run a new water line.
I know this was a while back, but if you remember anything it might really help me. Thanks.
when the inside of the freezer door was taken off to replace a broken line on our GE profile side by side, #TFX27PF,TFT27PF, there was foam covering everything and could’nt figure out how to get to the water line. Does this foam come off or are we unable to replace the broken line?
Try to carefully clean out your way to the water tube. You probably can remove part of that foam to get to the tube and then reinstall it. Place the new tube as far as possible from the inner door panel.
Thanks Gene. It had a small hole in from the bottom of the door area and we put some tape on it today that a guy at Home depot told us to use. So far it stopped the leak. Will update if it does not hold up.
Not sure if you mean me et25dqrbw00 Whirlpool but the inside of the door is filled with a hard foam. I cut out the foam near where the water tube went in and found the 1/4" water tube inside a slightly larger plastic tube which I carefully cut into and pulled out a section of the 1/4" water tube an spliced in a piece of 1/4" water tubing using the connectors they sell here. It worked fine . I did not try to replace the small amount of foam I hacked out -seems to have no effect on temperature of fridge. There is a metal coil that the water tube has to go thru as it passes from the door to the fridge to keep the water tube from getting cut make sure that metal coil is secure inside the fridge door and passes thru the hole in the bottom of the door(duct tape).
But it wasn’t abundantly clear where the water line hose was inside there. Can you please let me know if this is DIY able. I am VERY handy and have done many fridge repairs in the past.
