Brand:GE Model Number: PTW600BSR1WS Main Symptom: Won’t finish cycle What happens & when: Had no power on washing machine and replaced the control board got it to turn on. Programmed it to personality code 3 per instructions. Start a cycle and it doesn’t work right and won’t finish. Will show that it’s sensing and will spin sometimes and shows it’s washing but won’t do anything else and will show cycle finished after about 5 minutes. Any help appreciated.

Did you locate the tech sheet under the console it lists the exact personality code for your washer. It may be a personality code 4 depending on the model and serial number
Since the control board was replaced and you’ve already programmed the personality code, I don’t think you’re dealing with a simple programming issue anymore. The behavior you’re describing—starting a cycle, briefly sensing, occasionally spinning, skipping the wash action, and then ending the cycle after only a few minutes—usually means the control is not receiving one of the inputs it needs to continue.
Here are the things I would check, in order from most likely to least likely:
Run the built-in diagnostics and check for stored fault codes. Even if no code is displayed during normal operation, the washer often stores fault history that can point you directly to the failed component.
Verify the personality code is correct. Although you programmed it to Code 3, I’d double-check the instructions that came with the replacement board to be sure it matches your exact model (PTW600BSR1WS). An incorrect personality code can cause strange cycle behavior.
Run the automatic component test mode. This allows you to individually test the:
Hot and cold water valves
Drain pump
Agitator
Spin function
Lid lock
If one of these components fails during the test, you’ve likely found the cause.
Test the lid lock assembly. Even if it locks initially, the lock contains multiple switches that report both the lock and lid position to the control. If one switch is intermittent, the control may abort the cycle and prematurely declare it complete.
Check the shifter/mode actuator and speed sensing. If the control never detects the proper basket or agitator movement, it may skip portions of the cycle and end early. Inspect the wiring to the shifter and motor, and check for loose or damaged connectors.
Inspect all wiring harness connections. Since the control board was recently replaced, verify every connector is fully seated and that no pins have backed out of the connectors during installation.
If all of the above checks pass, it’s possible the replacement control board itself is defective or incompatible, even if it powers the machine on. Unfortunately, replacement boards can occasionally arrive faulty.
