Right before Thanksgiving, fridge was too warm but freezer was going crazy cold, so GE service replaced damper. Right before leaving for the holidays, started to do the same thing, but after staying closed while we were gone it reset. Yesterday it started going crazy again. Last night freezer was -5 and fridge was 33. This am though freezer was 2 and fridge was 41. Now the freezer is back to -5 but the fridge is up to 45 and the fridge is running all the time.
Is this fridge about to die? It’s only 7 yrs old and a GEprofile. When should I consider getting a new fridge

We have the ge profile artica and are experiencing the same thing! 3 years ago, i had the mother board replaced. the frig was only 4 years old at that point. a few months ago, the water line to the water inside the frig broke. this meant no water and we started making our own ice cubes. i didn’t want to put any more $ into the frig. BUT, now we are having the temp control issue. can’t get the frig bel02 45 degrees and the freezer can be -4!
i have measured the temps and the digital read is correct.
I will try cleaning the coils. is there Freon(sp) in these refrigerators?
Any other suggestions besides scrapping the piece of junk:mad:
it is the line that runs in for the water and ice. this hasn’t been working for a while now. the water flow wouldn’t stop so my husband cut off the water supply to the frig.
we moved all the food into a spare frig and have been able to keep the door closed for long periods of time. the temp is down to 40 degrees from a high of 47 and the freezer back to -4 from a high of 9.
should we be able to hear a fan running to tell if it is compressor issues?
Unplug the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Plug it back and check if the fan inside the freezer is working at normal speed. The compressor should be on at this time too.
Well, by the time the weekend has gone by, the temp is back down to 38 degrees. i didn’t unplug, but tried not to use that frig so we could keep the door shut.
hi - well, frig worked well for about 3 months. Now, we have a freezer temp at 0 ti -2 and a frig temp that won’t go below 48. During the day, 50 and then overnight to 48. We have unplugged it and when we did, i looked at the coils, but, they weren’t dusty as we cleaned them 3 months ago.
the ice maker and water doesn’t work, the temp is unstable as best. The machine is 7 years old. Is there anything else you can think of to do? i really don’t want to invest any more in labor on a service call, but, also don’t want to spend the $ on a new frig.
