Hi. Im a DIYer, first time. So my electric dryer stopped working about a week ago. Ive used a multimeter to test the start switch, and power block. I also tested the timer for continuity but im not sure if i tested it correctly because it read 0L. Other than that, all other components are in working order that I’m aware of. What am i missing or what else should i do/test?
When the power block was tested, what voltage reading did it have? Also, with the power cord unplugged and the timer set to a cycle, what continuity reading do you get from terminal B to terminal C?
I also got a 0L when testing the timer, terminal C and T. I tested the start switch and it is has continuity running through. I am using a kobalt digital display multimeter.
Yes, it was set to timed dry. I flipped the start switch and no conduitity was observed. , only reading was 0L with no noise. Thank you for your help. Im hoping this will solve the problem
Hi, i replaced the timer and the dryer has started back working. Would you happen to know what size screw is needed to hold the timer into place? It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve taken it apart and i don’t remember if it had a screw holding it in place but i remember it was a bit hard to pull out/off. The new part will not stay put after twisting the knob
The timer would have two tabs that rotate into locking brackets on the console. There might be a screw at one corner that is probably a size 8 or 10 screw about 1/2” long.
It happen last night. So i posted this issue extremely late. No abnormal noise. I tried again and it would not start back again. The timer was hot to the touch but even after cooling it didn’t start back.
If you access the power cord terminal block, what voltage do you measure when testing from the red wire to the black wire, red wire to white wire, then black wire to white wire?
