Dual Infinite Switch Kit Wiring Questions

I have an Amana AKT3040E cooktop and ordered the replacement switch for the Dual Element. The part that was recommended was Repair Part Number 12002125. This is an OEM part that requires more than just a swap out of the wires and I need some help. As best as I can determine from the electrical schematics:

Diagram… Old Switch Designation …New Switch Designation
N … L2 … P2
2 … L1 … P1
3 … H1 … 4
4 …H2 … 4a
5 …P … S2

The Electrical schematic on bottom of cooktop and the connections listed on the Instruction Sheet (16023363) are attached. The switch/burner in question is the Left Front Element

Here is how I have it currently wired and the problems that I am having:
• Black Piggyback wire (incoming black wire to splice to switch and then to right front element switch) is attached at P1 (as per instruction sheet drawing).
  • The Black Jumper wire is used to bridge P1 with S1
  • The brown wire attached at “2” in the wiring diagram is orphaned and not connected (see below).
  • The Red Piggyback wire (incoming red wire to splice to switch and then to right front element switch and then to “power on” light) is attached at P2.
  • The single Red wire is currently attached to position 2
  • The blue wire with white tracer is attached to position 4 on the new switch.
  • The Blue wire without tracer is attached to position 4a on the new switch.
  • The yellow wire is attached to position S2.
Here are the observations:
The switch turns on the heating elements, both the smaller one and the larger one correctly.
The power light comes on as normal.
The Hot indicator Light DOES NOT COME ON.
The brown wire is left unattached.

I have tried a couple of wire combinations (not using incoming power and Load wires but nothing seems to correct the problem. I am also concerned with the orphaned brown wire. I currently have it taped off but of course that is only a temporary fix for now.

What am I doing wrong? Thank you so much for your assistance.

How did you resolve the wiring issue for the new switch? I have the same exact situation with the same cook top and would appreciate any help.

was unable to come up with a perfect fix. The temperature lights do not come on as they should. The only way to do it correctly is to go back and purchase the exact control (blue). Haven’t done that yet.

/Thanks for your help. After looking at the schematic on the cook top, this is what I came up with, but will not be able to test it out until next week when I go to my in-laws’ home.
These are the terminals on the new switch
(L1,2) BLACK AND BROWN WIRES
(2 ON NEW SWITCH) RED FROM LEFT FROM ELEM
(L2) RED WIRES FROM SUPPLY AND TO OTHER SWITCH
(H1,3) BLUE W/ WHITE TRACER
(H2,4) BLUE
(P,5) YELLOW
We’ll see how it goes next week
Daniel

(2 ON NEW SWITCH) RED FROM LEFT FROM ELEM
should have written “LEFT FRONT ELEM”

Yep, those wire connections seem to work fine. I installed the new switch Monday and everything worked including lights. Checked for excessive current and that was fine.
