Dishwasher leaking

water is dripping from the bottom right corner (where it hinges) of my maytag dishwasher. it leaks in gushes. as the washer fills, no leaks, then once it starts spraying it will gush out, then nothing, then gush out, then nothing. but it happens quite quickly. it used to just drip a little, now it’s getting worse. i’ve cleaned and reinstalled the gasket. didn’t help. and the seal around the soap dispenser clip seems intact. i don’t think water is entering there. it sounds like (after reading things online) it could be a crack in one of the spray arms. but i don’t see any visible cracks. wouldn’t a crack cause the water to aim incorrectly, right at that door corner? would i see an actual crack, or just a slight separation on the seam? ahhhhh! i would love to fix this problem myself. can you think of anything else it might be?

Hi.

You need to determine if the leak is originated at the top or bottom of the door.

thank you for the “door leaks troubleshooting” PDF. i did the paper towel test. did i do it correctly? i taped them each 1/4 inch outside the rubber gasket. on the dishwasher, not the door. assuming i did this correctly, all the paper towels were wet. saturated through. so it could be that i need a new gasket. is there a way to know, before buying and installing a new one, if this is actually the problem? how often would you say they need replacing? i think my dishwasher is just over 10 years old. also, if the door latch clicks, does that always mean it’s holding the door as tightly as it should? mine seems fine, and clicks (indicating it’s closed tight), but could it be that it isn’t holding it as tight as it should? how could i test this? thank you so much for your advice!!!

Hi.

Please, read the article again. You should tape the paper squares to the door, not to the frame.
Follow the instructions.
