Dishwasher heating element trouble

The dishwasher was not heating at all, and when I looked, I noticed the heating element was cracked. I ordered a new one, it still wasn’t heating. I checked it with my multimeter and the ohms were reading way high, so I considered it defective and replaced it again. This newest one is still not heating. Could it be something else?

If so, how do I test to see what it is?

Yes it could.
Unplug the unit and check the hi-limit thermostat.
Should be 0 ohms.
If OK then check at the control board.
P4-4 to P4-3, you should see the heater resistance.
If not you have a bad connection/wire going down to the heater/hi-limit.

I know this is an older thread, but hopefully can get an answer. I have the WDF530PLYW5 and have been trying to figure out why it’s not heating/drying.

Replaced the heating element, didn’t work. Checked the hi limit thermostat, still good. Checking the board at P4-4 to P4-3, I have about 20ohms resistance. Is this GOOD? You said “you should see the heater resistance”. So what else could it be?

Yes it is good.
Spec is 8 to 30 ohms so you are smack dab in the middle.

Since the heater si connected directly to the incoming line voltage through two relays odds are high that it is a bad control board.

I would check the thermistor resistance just to be sure it is OK before replacing the board.
See the WATER HEATING/HEAT DRY in the strip circuits section of the tech sheet.

i tested the P4-4 AND P4-3 and i got nothing. It jsut show a “1”. The P4-4 and P4-3 are the last 2 connectors on the board to the left, correct?

Yes these connections are 3 and 4 but yoyu are not checking them correctly.

What you are trying to check is the heater and hi-limit so it is the connector that plugs into this that you want to check.

Take a look at the strip circuits in the tech sheet.

Ah yes. Duh. Learning as I go. Thank you. I will check that tonight and report back.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting a control board on ******** and the dishwasher appears to be fully functional again.
