Top rack dishes are not getting clean in my old Kitchen Aid. I figure that the food chopper might be clogged but darn if I can figure out how to get to it. I can get the lower impeller off... that was simple, it just lifts right off. However, the rest of the lower assembly looks like trouble. I'm afraid if I get it apart, I won't get it back together. Does anyone have step-by-step instructions of how to take apart the lower unit enough to get at the food chopper? It is a model KUDH230BWH0. Thanks!!!

Hello Frank,

Is there a quick step by step guide to get to the food chopper on my Kitchenaid Dishwaher Model KUDI01DLBT3? I am new to the site and my local appliance repair guy found tons of food and other FMM (foriegn material and matter). I ran into the same issue you did....can you send me the step by step guide to get to the food chopper blade and screen???

Bests,

MandMTech

After you get the main strainer off, down in a well there is a 2-piece cover over the food chopper. It is held in place with two #15 Torx screws. It lifts straight up. It is tight and will need some nudging. This exposes the food chopper, which is driven off the pump shaft by a 4-prong coupling.
