Recently the water through the door on our Amana side by side became erratic and it appeared that the water valve was failing. I replaced the valve with a new one and all works well. The problem is the very noticable plastic/chemical taste and smell in the water. I ran 5 gallons through the system after the install but the taste is still there and after a week has not dimished (including several additional attempts to purge the system). Is this normal? Is this harmful? What do I need to do to get this back to where the water is drinkable?
Thanks

Is there a water filter inside or behind the refrigerator? if there is one - how old is it? If there is no a water filter then you have to install one to improve taste of drinking water.
Water inlet valve can not affect taste of water.

There is a new filter before the valve (this model does not have a built in). This is clearly the valve causing the taste, it was not there prior to replacement. It is a plastic/chemical taste. I would not expect something made for potable water to do this but it has and the question is how can I fix it or can I?

The only what I can say in such situation is: try to replace the water valve with another one. Gene. P.S. I never seen such problem before.
