The dryer will not operate at all. When the start button is pushed, a winding noise comes from the back of the control panel in the area of the timer. I have the dryer disassembled and not sure what parts could be contributing to the problem. Thank you.

Check the thermostats and thermal fuse. If they're good, each one will have continuity. You will want to isolate each component to test it, so that you don't get false readings from the rest of the circuit. Do this by disconnecting at least one of the wires going to the part. Make sure you reconnect each wire before going to the next component, so that you don't get confused with a bunch of loose wires. While the dryer is diasassembled,also check the door switch for continuity. Bear in mind that the door switch has two sets of contacts. It should be marked with the C (common), NO (for contacts that are normally open, and NC for narmally closed contacts.
