When washer is agitating the tub is trying to turn & making a loud screaching sound. Tub spins fine during spin cycle.:confused:

Your brake is slipping. could be oil on brake or shaft on the bottom pulley stuck and not allowing brake to set all the way.

Thank you for getting back to me.
Will this mean removing & dismantling the transmission. Would it be a major repair job?

take off the front panel. to see if it oily you get get to the shaft from under neath just tip washer back and take apart to see if it dirty or wornen
