I have a Lennox a/c system. Had partial power outage today (utilities problem) and after power returned compressor won't turn off. Fan will go off when room temperature drops below thermostat setting, but compressor keeps running. Setting thermostat lower brings fan back on. Outside of what I think is the expansion valve is freezing, and air is cold when fan is on.

It is a strong possibility your contacts have fried together on the contactor(during the electrical storm) and it is keeping the unit running.
