My sister ask me to post this question, her side by side frigidaire FRS26LH5DS2 is not working, either side, two days ago someone left the freezer door ajar, when they found it had a leak in front of it, the ice had melted, they empty the ice bucket and close the door, since then is not freezing, not making any ice, what could be the problem? they also told me that now the have the setting to the coldest. thank you. hI! well I still need help with this problem, we change the eva/fan motor because it wasn't working, when we install the new one fan was turning very slowly, call part dept, and was told to test connection to the motor and should get 120 reading if is less that my problem is not the motor fan, but don't know what tester to use. what I did was with a cable connected the fan to a wall outlet and the fan was running fast, How to test the wiring harness? and where is the main control board? so I can test it too, please HELP ME... THANK YOU

you have to test for 120 volts across the fan terminals with an A/C voltmeter. There is no main control board on your model. you have a defrost control, but without checking the wiring schematics, i dont believe the fan motor is controlled by that board.

But if neither side is cold, at all, anywhere, top or bottom, the fan is not the problem. either the entire unit is not running, or was not, or you have a sealed system problem, either low refrigerant, no refrigerant flow, or a compressor that is not running. I would not recommend you try to perform refrigerator repair on your own if its any of these things.

Oh my God! thank you for your help.... this is my sister frigde, the unit is turning on, I saw it today, frost cover, looks like snow, (98%) of the evaporator, which is located on the bottom of the freezer, she had it on for 48hrs, the fan was on but working very slow, all the cover were screw back, and left alone, she put a bag with vegetables on the bottom shelf, I took it out today and was frozen, water is cold to drink at the door, but the unit do not make any ice, but there is water in the ice maker, and the frigde is no cool at all, when you open the door you could feel the cold air on your feet. I was looking at the wiring for the motor that connect to the back wall in the freezer, and is one hardness for all the parts connected to the evaporator, so maybe I was thinking that the problem could be the thersmostat, excused my spelling, but tomorrow will go over and do the power test. I have both tester, a digital, but where do I set the dial at the ac? and I have one of those tester for 110/220, I try to do the test you describe at the motor connection but got confussed with the dial, didn't know how to get the 13vdc you talk about, also tried the other tester at the motor connection and the 110 light up. so I will try again and post result,, thank you Eve

well, the good news is you dont have a major sealed system issue. The other good news is that we have zeroed in on the problem, that freezer fan not rotating fast or at all, which causes both the temps your sister has, and also the water and ice maker failures. The bad news is that i wont be able to help you determine why that fan is running slow, especially since it sounds like it might be a wiring issue.
