I just bought a new LG French door refrigerator. It is running I would say more than 50% of the time. No kids living at home so it is not opened that much and seals are all new. I had a Kenmore before and it did not run that much. I had an LG tech come out and look at it and he said that the new refrigerators have smaller compressors so they run more and also have a shorter life span. Is this true? Maybe it is but this is annoying and I find this hard to believe. In todays technological gains, everything is smaller but performs better so I still think something is wrong.

The newer refrigerators have very good insulation so the compressors are sized much smaller than the older ones, so the compressor run time may be just normal. I would crank the controls to a lower temerature and measure the freezer temperature, should be lower than zero degrees.
