After my Kenmore dishwasher stopped after cycling - I discovered the wiring harness burnt at the quick disconnect tab as well as the circuit board on the control board. Should I replace both? Did another fault cause the burn/current draw? Does a new fuse come with the control board? ShouLd I buy all 3 and put it back together?
Any help is appreciated

You'll want to check the electrical connection under the machine. A loose ground or neutral can cause this.

Here is the tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%208535451.pdfShould I replace both? Depends how bad the harness is but it is usually a good idea. Any poor connection at the harness plug will cause it to overheat again. Did another fault cause the burn/current draw? Probably you will have to check each component for resistance. Perhaps by inspecting which wires/connections heated up on the harness connector you can narrow down what caused it. There is always a possibility that it was the harness to control board connection itself that was the problem. Does a new fuse come with the control board? I do not think so. ShouLd I buy all 3 and put it back together? Unless you can determine the cause I would not. All 3 parts are going to run you around $170.00 dollars. Unless the unit is in excellent shape, it does not make sense to invest this into an old unit. Plus you may need other parts. |
