I have the range listed above. The other night my wife was pre-heating the oven to use. All of a sudden, it popped, and the bottom element was burning into 2 pieces and was flaming. I turned the breaker off and the flame went out. I have a new element ordered. Tonight I removed the defective element and turned the breaker on. The light came on in the oven, the 2 right burners came on, on the stove top. The electronic display never came on. The left top burners would not come on either. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Maytag sure has a problem with bake elements.

A lot of times when these elements burn out as yours did it will damage the oven control too.

I have just encountered the same problem with my Maytag stove model # MER5775QAS. The bake element burnt in half and when one of the burnt ends touched the stove floor it shorted the control panel. Now i have to replace both the bake element and the control panel. This sounds like a product defect to me and should be recalled. At the very least I think Maytag should be responsible to replace these parts. Do you think i have any recourse?

Unfortunately the 3 year extended warranty expired this July. Doesnt that figure. Does anyone know how I can go about getting this product recalled? I feel very dupped as a consumer.

If you believe there is a risk of serious injury or death, you can report it to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If there is no power to the Bake element, but Broil works then the problem is a bad control board (aka a clock).
