washer fills, spins, ok in clean section agitator only spins does not agitate back and forth and makes a grating noise like gears sliping
Note. already checked the dogs and they are working fine, the noise sounds like metal gears not meshing correctly the agitator does not turn in both directions, the dof teeth do engage
because during wash cycle it is only spinning in one direction, all the clothes get tagled tight roung the agitator

The symptoms you describe are a bad transmission. If you can post a model number we may be able to comment further.
