Have a Kenmore dryer, HE2, Model 101.87562601. Breaker on not tripped. Power button works. LED display lights. Door closes correctly. When I press the start button, it just beeps. When I open the door, press in the switch, press start, same beeps. Help please. What is my problem. Thanks.

Here is the tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%208572745.pdfTry running the diagnostics to see if anything comes up If nothing or all OK Try doing the motor test 2 on page 5. If you do not own a meter, I would suggest you purchase a one. You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy though it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves ordering one unnecessary part it has paid for itself and you end up owning a useful tool. Most places will not let you return electrical parts so if you order it, you own it. A couple things to watch when measuring ohms and continuity 1. Always remove power from the machine otherwise you could blow your meter. 2. Always disconnect at least one side of any device you are checking. This eliminates the possibility of measuring an alternate/parallel circuit path. 3. When checking for closed contacts and continuity use the lowest scale (Usually 200 ohms). Then try higher scales. This scale is 0 to 200 ohms so if the device you are measuring is 300 ohms this scale would show an open circuit which it is not, you are just measuring outside the scale's dynamic range. There is a good STICKY at the start of this forum about it's use. |

What is my problem. Thanks. It is most likely the thermal fuse. The part # is 3392519 If you get a putty knife and slide it just above the bottom panel, about 4 inches from the right side, you will hit a clip that will release the bottom front panel on that side. Do the same on the other side. Remove the bottom front panel out of the way, and get on your stomach, and look in on the right side hard left, sitting on the vent tube are 2 parts. One of them is thin, and white, that is the thermal fuse. Unplug the dryer, and then take the 2 wires off of the thermal fuse, and put them together, and then put some tape around them to keep them together, and so the metal ends don't hit metal, and then plug in the dryer and see if it works. If so, DO NOT RUN the dryer with the fuse jumped out. It is the only thing pervented the dryer from burning down the house. Let me know how it goes. Tom www,applianceeducator.com
