I have a keypad issue with this Oven. When you push the Number 5 on the keypad a 2 appears in the display. All the other functions on the membrane switch work correctly. Is the problem in the membrane switch or could it be in the circuit board ??

Here are the parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KEBS107BAL3 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a manual
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/6342e2edf7772b6e852573440054cfc6/$FILE/4317418%20Single%20Wall%20Oven.pdf

It could be either.
The keypad my be outputting a 2 instead of a 5 OR the control board may be interpreting the code from the keypad incorrectly.
When you press 2 do you get 2?
Looks like this is a bubble membrane keypad you may be able to see/feel some warping of it's surface near these keys.
Unfortunately they do not provide a pin-out diagram for the keypad so you cannot check it.
I would say the more likely of the two is the keypad but I hate guessing at something like this especially when it is over $350.00.

You could try the following though I feel it is a long shot.
Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.

Perhaps someone else will jump in with info on how to check the keypad !!!

Does anyone know how to access failure codes for a KEBS107BAL3 eye level oven ? It is a 1997 vintage unit. The stop, stop start method for the newer models does not work on this unit. Or if someone might have an electronic copy of the tech manual for this oven, that might help.

Thanks,
Dave
