I'm not sure on the age of this machine. Leaks water sporadically, in the past Iv'e taken it apart and cleaned what looks like a breather on the hose going to the fabric softner dispenser. Haven't done that for a while, and it's been leaking rather regularly lately, so I thought I would take it apart. Well, this time the whole floor underneath is oil covered, looks like it's coming from the gear case. Is this something worth fixing? Do I have to replace the whole gearcase?

You can try to fix the old gear case. You have to remove it, replace the shaft seal, replace the oil and reseal the cover. - The part number for the shaft seal is AP2908074 - The part number for the gear case oil is AP3072960 - The part number for the sealer is AP3073576 You can replace the whole gear case assembly. - The part number for the gear case assembly is AP3096209 Gene.

Thanks for the info. I looked up the paperwork and found that the washer was 16 years old. Not that I'm biased against old things; my wife is 3 times that, but I think I'm going to look for a new one. Thanks!!!
