Washer just started leaking water from bottom. How hard to detect where water is soming from and to fix. I have already checked water connections.

Use a putty knife and release the front panel clips just under the top and remove front panel. Probably a bad pump or a bad tub seal.

If the tub bearings and seal are bad, that is a big job and you need special, expensive tools. Most services just don't fix these, too labor intensive.

I guess what you are saying is that I should just buy a new washer? I just ordered an Agitator Wrench so I can continue my job. I already have the tub seal. How can I tell in the bearings are shot?? By the time I am done I will probably have a wrench I will never use again. Fill up the washer and let it run, if the tub seals are leaking, you will see water coming from the tub seal area. You can re-post to see what others will say about it.
You can get info on this at web site applianceaid.com Looks like you will need a gear puller, you should be able to rent one. A servicer would charge about $300 to do this rather labor intensive job.

after all your parts and tools, what was the results of your repair? was it worth it? I have similar problems with my maytag washer and debating to repair or rplace it. If you have a dependable care Maytag washer, it's worth fixing; bearing and seal replacement rather easy, still about $80 in parts.
