dryer will not heat, replaced the element,checked continuenty on all thermostats, have 220, have 120 when i check the element to ground ( both sides) but when i check voltage between both ends of the element nothing, is this the correct check? need help!

Test your heating coil for continuity and resistance (10 to 20 ohms) and for grounding to the frame. Unplug unit first.
If you need more info post the results of above and your full model number.
