We have had an intermittent problem with our Bosch SMU 2046 UC/14. Clean water pooling at the bottom of the dishwasher between washes (and on the floor upon opening the washer door!) We had assumed that the problem was cleaning the filter, making sure the garbage disposal and sink were cleaned, and saw online that perhaps the water pump or the water valve could be involved.

Upon study, there is now a slow steady stream of water coming from the vent on the left wall of the inner casing. This stops when I turn the water off. I can't find information about what this vent does, and why water would be coming out of it.

According to the diagram from the Bosch manual online, these parts are the cover 065290, the seal 065303, and the insert 056824. According to the appliancepartspros parts search, these same parts are the vent cover AP2802244, Gasket AP2802242, and the vent ensert AP2802208. There is reference that the gasket is discontinued?

We are trying to determine if a repair is economical or possible, or whether we should lean towards a replacement as there is a spot in the top rack that is corroded, and spots on the front panels that are a tad rusty, these parts retail $162, $40 and $20. It also seems that plastics don't dry as well lately so perhaps the heating element might less efficient.

Any advice? Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. It is helpful to know where the water valve is.

So would the water valve then leak through the vent which is about 1/2 way up on the left side? Is that what that vent is for, water coming in?

The vent is used for bot venting the unit and as the filling point of the unit as your valve leaks enought to reach the vent you then see the water enter the unit.
